Dear School Community

As a result of today’s meeting with the Board, we decided to close the school during the coming week.

Consequently, next Thursday’s AGM will not be held at the school. More information in this respect will be sent out by the President until tomorrow at the latest.

Classes will be held online during the upcoming week.

The SMT and the Board will be monitoring the situation during this week and work out concepts how to continue the teaching and learning during the upcoming weeks should the flooding situation worsen.

We would like to thank you for your understanding and support of this decision.

Precautionary school closure Friday, 14.10.11, due to flooding situation PDF Print E-mail

Dear Parents and Students

As you are aware, there are flood warnings for various areas of Bangkok for the days immediately to come (approx. 14.-18.10.11).

Even though the situation is said to be generally stable today and probably even tomorrow in the area where our school is located, for the following reasons, we decided, as a precaution, to close the school precautionary tomorrow, Friday, 14.10.11, for students and teaching-staff during the entire last day before the Chulalongkorn break:

-    media reports in The Nation and Bangkok Post on the current flooding situation and its effects on Bangkok and especially Minburi have been highly ambiguous in the past 48 hours

-    the weather forecast announces “during 13-14 (…) Oct, scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rain (…)”: http://www.tmd.go.th/en/7-day_forecast.php

-    RIS does not hold classes tomorrow and has cancelled their parent-teacher meetings scheduled for tomorrow, which affects school services such as the clinic or the canteen that will be open only till noon

-    the transportation situation might deteriorate during the course of tomorrow, especially in the afternoon, due to the flooding situation as well as the approaching weekend and Chulalongkorn break

In order to use the upcoming class-free day in a school-related way, tomorrow’s classes will be delivered online via the learning material the students take home this afternoon. Additional information on how to use the service will be delivered in the course of this afternoon by our heads of department in a separate e-mail.
.
Last, but not least, please regularly check your e-mails, the school website and the intranet for further updates about the situation during and immediately after the Chulalongkorn break.

We would like to thank you very much for your understanding and support of this exceptional precautionary measure and wish you a relaxing Chulalongkorn break - and hope that Bangkok keeps dry!

Kindest regards

According to the Minburi District Office, there has not been issued any immediate flood warning for the Minburi area yet.
