Opening Ceremony School year 2011-2012 PDF Print E-mail

On Monday, the 8th of August 2011, at 9:20 am, Swiss School Bangkok arranged a ceremony marking the beginning of the new school year.
Students, teachers, administration staff, parents and other guests were greeted with welcoming words from the new school director, Mr. Michael Gwerder. After introducing himself to the audience, the director described the coming school year as a very important one, especially because it marks the start of the English-speaking profile of the school. He also pointed out that Swiss School Bangkok is an “Exzellente Deutsche Auslandsschule” (Excellent German School abroad). This certificate was the result of the visit of German inspectors of the so-called Bund-Länder-Inspektion who were carrying through the certification of the school in the academic year 2010-2011.
The highlights of the ceremony were the introduction of the new students and teaching staff members and the music performances of the school’s teacher band accompanied by the powerful voice of Mrs. Liv Lange.
After the ceremony the students returned to their classrooms, and the parents and guests went to the entrance area where drinks and snacks were served.

Education Workshop
All teachers took part in a workshop in preparation for the new academic year.
On Thursday, the 4th of August 2011, the steering committee of the school’s educational quality development and management team (PQM) arranged a workshop to discuss the development of the school curriculum. A part of the school development plan means that all teachers will continue with the peer review program and therefore will work in teams to visit each other in the classrooms and then discuss the lessons to be able to improve teaching and learning as part of the 360° feedback plan. It was also a great opportunity to discuss the results of the visit of German inspectors of the so called Bund-Länder-Inspektion who were carrying through the certification of our school. The certificate “Exzellente Deutsche Auslandsschule” means an important milestone in the quality management process which the Swiss School Bangkok started three years ago. The work and improvement of the schools’ curricula will also be continued in the new academic year.

“Ready for take off “– Die Maturanden der Swiss School Bangkok verabschieden sich PDF Print E-mail

The graduates of Swiss School Bangkok say goodbye

Shining students, proud parents, prominent guestspeakers: with animpressive program the Swiss SchoolBangkok presented itself to their guests on 10th June 2011 at this year'sgraduation ceremony and said goodbye to the sixgraduates, who all have successfully completed theirschool career in 2011.

“We, yours teachers and parents, have given you wings. Now you need to fly yourself.” These were the parting words with which the six students of grade 12 were release to their next stage of life when they will start university in Europe and Asia. In addition to the bright graduates 13 students of grade 10 could receive their German high school diploma.

The diplomas were presented by the Swiss ambassador H.E. Christine Schraner Brugener and the German ambassador Dr. Hans Heinrich Schmacher.

In the festively decorated hallof the RIST, studentsof grades 8, 10 and 12 captured the stage and providedthe audience an extraordinary and memorablefarewell performance with Italianopera singing, rock, jazz and classical piano sonatas. Very impressive was the music presented by the AEG Big Band of the Albert-Einstein Gymnasium in Boeblingen, who made a stopover in Bangkok on their way to a Big-Band contest in Singapore.

To “Fly away” and “The final countdown” the whole hall was rocking and the audience concluded by thanking the head master Dr. Daniel Halter with a big applause, who after five years of service will now leave Swiss School Bangkok.

One day later, the celebrating school community met again in the ball room of the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit Hotel for this year’s Matura ball according to the motto “MaturAir”. At this social highlight of the German speaking community in Bangkok people danced and celebrated extensively. With great anticipation the guests anticipated the announcement of the main prizes of the tombola, which again offered great prizes like flights and hotel stays. Also, the guest enjoyed a great buffet dinner.

„Der kleine Käfer Immerfrech“ or the crouchy ladybug PDF Print E-mail

The two kindergarten groups performed a musical together. The story was about a crouch ladybug who met a lot of animals. He met another ladybug, a wasp, a praying mantis, a lobster, a skunk, a boa constrictor, a hyena, a gorilla, a rhinoceros, an elephant and a whale. He was very unfriendly to all of them. But luckily in the end he got wiser and became friendly to the other animals. The performance was a big success! All students, even the youngest ones with three years, went out on the stage and performed a wonderful show!
