Since 1984, the Swiss School  Bangkok has been integrated with the Ruamrudee International School (RIS) as the “Swiss Section”. RIS was founded in 1957 by American Redemptionists and follows an American curriculum. It is attended by about 2,000 students. The school is under the patronage of the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is recognized as a private school by the Ministry of Education.

The Swiss School Bangkok is politically neutral and non-sectarian, and is a not-for-profit organization.  Swiss School Bangkok enjoys great organizational freedom within the overall structure of RIS. The school is governed by the Swiss Educational Association (SEA) Bangkok, which is an officially registered society in Thailand. The Association creates and maintains the legal, infrastructural, financial and personnel conditions for the operation of the school.  With the enrollment of their children at the school, all parents automatically become members of the Association and are eligible to elect the seven-member School Board. This body is responsible for implementing the affairs of the Association. The board meetings are attended by the school’s Director, Deputy Director and Administrator, as well as one representative each from the Swiss, German and Austrian embassies.
